A landmark in music history: Elvis Presley – August 26, 1969 captures one of the most important live performances of The King’s career – his triumphant return to the stage after 11 long years.

This 2LP set from Sony Legacy, released in 2019, presents the complete concert recorded on August 26, 1969, at the International Hotel in Las Vegas — part of his legendary first Las Vegas engagement.
Coincidentally, August 26th was also the day Elvis’ timeless single “Suspicious Minds” was first released.

The Return of The King

“I was missing the contact with a live audience,” Elvis tells the crowd — and it’s clear he meant it.
After years of lackluster films and fading record sales, he reignited his fire with the ’68 Comeback Special, recorded over a year earlier.
Just months later, he cut over 30 songs in Memphis — some of his greatest work — and in July 1969, he finally returned to live performing.

The entire four-week engagement sold out instantly.
The New York Times raved:

“Elvis Presley came to this place and provided an unbelievable exercise in pure, exciting rock ‘n’ roll.”

The energy on stage was electric. Backed by a powerful new band, Elvis delivered bluesy rock ‘n’ roll, heartfelt ballads, and fiery new material like “In The Ghetto” and “Suspicious Minds.”

The Performance

This show captures everything that made Elvis great: charisma, humor, and a voice at its peak.
The setlist includes classics like “Blue Suede Shoes,” “Jailhouse Rock,” “Heartbreak Hotel,” and “Mystery Train/Tiger Man,” alongside intimate moments like “Love Me Tender” and a hilarious “laughing version” of “Are You Lonesome Tonight?”

Recorded in the 2,000-seat showroom of the International Hotel, it’s both intimate and explosive — pure Elvis.
